HEATHER

Welcome to Heather

Houseboat of character, docked in Hoveton by the River Bure on the Norfolk Broads Waterways.

Heather is cared for by a partnership of friends and family. Our aim is to preserve the distinctive style of the houseboat and enable future generations to enjoy her charms.

Explore the riverside, browse the shops and places to eat and drink ~ and much more beyond monumental Wroxham Bridge.

Moving refreshments ~ Snofrutes and big bricks

Food on the go is nothing new ~ as can be seen from this photograph dating from the 1930s. Ices are served by smartly dressed stewards with beaming smiles from two tricycles at the suprisingly quiet junction of Stalham Road and Church Road in Hoveton. An earlier cast iron and wood Norfolk County Council finger post is seen on the left.

Greylags out and about

Greylag geese mooching around Hoveton and Wroxham backwaters in the noon day sun.

The birds are an oft overlooked specimen of waterfowl ~ sometimes confused as large ducks.
